GERMANY. Selz, Abtei. Circa 1170-1180. Pfennig (Silver, 16 mm, 0.68 g, 11 h). Angel giving crosier to the abbot, star and letter S above. Rev. Two standing figures on the right giving cross and ciborium to a sitting figure on the left. Braun von Stumm (Hornbach) 79. Braun von Stumm (Straßburg) 24. E.u.L. p. 259 Nr. 117. Nessel p. 100, 3 (Straßburg). An exceptional example, very well struck and beautifully toned. Virtually as struck.
